So Much to Catch Up On...

goodness, i have left out so much from the end of summer and this fall. i'll try and be fast...

aren't they cute?

dinner at tokyo garden for juni's birthday dinner.

juni's cloud themed birthday party

breakfast and chicken judging at the fair. popi hated the mirrors.

when we go to the fair, we spend ALL day there.

sky ride, caramel apples, and the largest horse hoofs i have ever seen in my life, the picture doesn't even show the mamothicity of it. i just made that word up.

california dreaming. popi meets her cousin Zinny! we love her bunches and bunches!

good times with friends and family. oh yeah, and that trip to steve jobs' house.

and what would a trip to cali be without our trip to mecca, the Google campus. we had breakfast, never had breakfast there before, but of course it was fantastic!

this is just scratching the surface...

Liebster Love, Pass It On

i received a very wonderful blog award from my friend petra over at sew paint create. petra lives in oregon with her husband and two children, and makes these amazing quilts. i am very honored that she chose me for an award:) thanks petra!
part of the liebster awarding is that it is given by small bloggers(less than 300 followers), and then in turn you give it to 2-5 small blogs(less than 300 followers) that you read. you link back to your awarder and awardee and in turn makes a big chain of blogs you could follow that you might have never read. kinda fun, huh?

my first liebster goes to crystal at Let's Abra-Ka-Do THis
she blogs about her cute son christian, see he's adorable.....
she also writes about yummy Korean food, fitness, and just daily daily all in a funny, down to earth way which i love reading about, especially the Korean food! her musings make me laugh.
so crystal, congratulations, from me to you!

Yikes

i just kinda realized i have been ignoring my blog. i have been playing outside in this bee-ootiful weather or reading in my spare time. i am re-reading the clan of the cave bear series so i will be all fresh for the new book that comes out within days. they are some of my favorite books and i enjoy reading them so much. spring break was nice, i still have to post pictures of the girls' room, we played outside a lot, stayed up with the neighbors till midnight one night, and chilled. we went to our friend's house one day to say hi, and popi and her friend kate got to play....well, they got to lay on the floor with each other.

aren't they cute. kate is in floral, popi in the red skirt.

and the girls always love to read...
this is a new reading spot i guess....

digging in the garden has been fun as always. i double fenced my asparagus and look what popped up out of the ground, my first spear. i know it sounds sooo cliche, but it was the best asparagus i have ever eaten, so buttery and soft and crunchy. wow. i bought new fencing for the garden so i can fence it then plant. have to keep the chickens out. bought ferns for the front porch, things are looking springy. i am loving this. i have a ton of stuff to do, painting the house, fencing off the driveway, pulling out bushes, planting a flower bed.....and it all makes me happy!

18 Weeks at Queenie's

pop-tart is 18 weeks today.
she rolls over from her tummy to her back. she talks, and raspberries, and blows bubbles. she grabs her hands, chews on her hands, sucks her thumbs. she picks toys up and brings them to her mouth. she giggles, boy does she giggle:) she takes two naps a day. she drinks lots of milk from her mama. she is working on sitting up. she loves to watch tv, i don't endorse this, but if i am not careful, her head is craned half way around her body and she has found a television. she doesn't like her car seat anymore. she likes to be in the center of attention, not herself the center, but in the midst of everything.

xoxoxoxoxoxo

my june-bug and beila-bot. yes, that is a blue mustache and goatee, with pink freckles.

8 Days of Thanksgiving

on the 3rd day of thanksgiving my true love gave to me, friends!
I have the best people in the world as friends. I know most people think that they have the best friends, but I won the award already. I have friends from when I was in nursery school that I still am friends with, elementary, middle school, high school, and college! but not just that, they are great, and they are willing to a lot for me, and do. they also are not afraid to call me out on things, that takes a true friend. my friends are spread out all over, but they are all so close to my heart. thank you to them! I wouldn't be half of who I am without them.

Happy Veteran's Day

thank you to all those who served and are serving our country. without you, our great country would not be as great. thank you daddy, peter, uncle tom, uncle jimmy, parks and jake.
and a thank you to the families who let the husbands, brothers, sisters, and wives go serve. without your support we would not have troops.
God bless you and keep you.

Dia De Los Muertos

on november 1st each year is dia de los muertos, day of the dead. we celebrate it at tulsa's living arts downtown. this year kristen had a huge altar set up for her deceased grandmother ruby. we go every year, and popi and were hoping to run into the girls who were with their stepmom. i missed them somehow, but kristen didn't. she snapped a picture of my lovely two for me:)

i got to eat one of my favorite treats, a mango, all dressed up in lime and chili!

my baby girls. well my big girls.

sanctuario de ruby.
kristen does amazing pieces of art. we had a great time of friends, family, food, and beer. had to leave early and miss the fire dancers this year, poo. maybe i'll see them at the garden diva party friday!

Matryoshka BooHaHa 2010

this year for halloween we(i) decided we would be matryoshka/babushka/russian nesting dolls. i thought it was hilarious. first i thought we'd carry around cardboard cutouts of a traditional shaped babushka, but then the girls would not have had the freedom of their hands. so then i thought we'd just dress like them. there are 4 of us in different heights, so it worked. i made the white dresses out of the shirt dress tutorial, and then pinned the anthropologie napkins i got earlier on front for our aprons. then of course i cut out red kerchiefs from red fabric and hot glued them on headbands to keep them on our heads! except for popi, pink cheeks and over sized eyelashes completed our look.

yesterday was boohaha on brookside, we went to the costume contest with the golden driller(henry), and met up with gnomies, olive and calder for the parade. we won one of the costume contests, but not the overall. still, bee had fun sporting the big blue ribbon the rest of the day.

Corn Maize OOpsie

valerie, lauren, and i tried to take the kids to the corn maize in way out oklahoma tuesday, well, a 45 minute drive from our midtown oasis anyways. our luck, lauren and i both totally missed the hours part of their webpage and did not notice that they were closed tuesday. so we took the brood to atwoods so i could get chicken feed and we let the kids pick out stick candy. it was an odd outing, yes, but somehow not terrible. we all had a pretty good laugh.

The Favorite Son

today i volunteered to help take bee's class to the Will Rogers Memorial Museum in claremore.
isn't her class cute?

"no pictures mama."
that is will rogers' grave down there overlooking my beautiful home state.

i learned so much about will rogers. i think i enjoyed myself more than the kids. there were tons of private possessions of the rogers' family there, including what will rogers was wearing and what he had on his person when he and wiley post were killed in a tragic plane crash in alaska.
he was an amazing person.

my favorite thing were the fan mail envelopes that somehow made it to him without address. some of them just had a quote on them without acknowledgment and made it to him.

one of will rogers' famous quotes. he wanted it on his grave, and here it is.
what a great route 66 museum to visit!
