Tulsa Tough Weekend!!!

my favorite summer weekend is the weekend of the TUlsa Tough. i love cycling, not sure why, but i love it. i would never do it, but watching is a blast! juni was at summer camp all week so bee, popi and i had a lot of time on the porch:)

wink always sits by popi, i like to think he is watching out for her.

tulsa tough in the blue dome area the first night!

edible garden tour has me thinking about quail now...

and i am thinking about doing something different with our coop.

saturday night we went all the way out to pawnee for the pawnee bill wild west show and museum.

the use the same original playbill for the current show. there were belly dancers, traditional pow wow dancing, trick riders, roping, guns, swords.....so much fun!

Align Centerthe whole gang, my friend valerie took her boys the same night, it was great to have some time with them.

do you see beila to the right of the fancy dancer? it was so cute. we had a blast last night.
this morning we were up and out to tulsa tough and cry baby hill, my favorite! we had to come home for naps....but we'll be back out there in a few!

Popi's First Road Trip at 33 Weeks

popi and i accompanied poppa bear to our state capitol the other day for popi's first road trip. she was stellar! slept on the way there and on the way back. after errands we went to a cloth diaper store in okc to pick up some few odds and ends because our local store here closed:( then we went to arcadia down route 66 to eat lunch at pops! the food is not the best or anything but it is just fun to go, there are over 500 different bottled sodas to choose from. i also get a malt with my burger, i normally don't get malts with meals, it is a treat. they have a giant led soda pop bottle outside that lights up at night, kitschy.

topping it off on the way home is the round barn, so pretty.

Oh My Snow.

what happened? a week ago i was basking in the nice warm sun outside on the front lawn while children played all around in their t-shirts. oh yeah, i live in OK. cool. i spent monday getting ready for this week, but nothing can prepare you for three children cooped up for 4 days. it is too cold to go out and play and too snowy to play. today we went out! today we saw other humans besides family, and it was nice. the city streets are crazy. i don't know if the streets have been plowed or not, they are packed with snow and everywhere there are cars stuck, covered in snow, stuck at the light, people with shovels, cars pushing other cars. then there are the people walking. they walk in the middle of the street because the snow is packed down there, hauling groceries or pulling them on sleds. then it happened, it snowed again:( good thing i LOVE to cook! y'all keep warm now, ya hear.

Corn Maize OOpsie

valerie, lauren, and i tried to take the kids to the corn maize in way out oklahoma tuesday, well, a 45 minute drive from our midtown oasis anyways. our luck, lauren and i both totally missed the hours part of their webpage and did not notice that they were closed tuesday. so we took the brood to atwoods so i could get chicken feed and we let the kids pick out stick candy. it was an odd outing, yes, but somehow not terrible. we all had a pretty good laugh.

The Favorite Son

today i volunteered to help take bee's class to the Will Rogers Memorial Museum in claremore.
isn't her class cute?

"no pictures mama."
that is will rogers' grave down there overlooking my beautiful home state.

i learned so much about will rogers. i think i enjoyed myself more than the kids. there were tons of private possessions of the rogers' family there, including what will rogers was wearing and what he had on his person when he and wiley post were killed in a tragic plane crash in alaska.
he was an amazing person.

my favorite thing were the fan mail envelopes that somehow made it to him without address. some of them just had a quote on them without acknowledgment and made it to him.

one of will rogers' famous quotes. he wanted it on his grave, and here it is.
what a great route 66 museum to visit!
