Halloween 2013

Shush.  I know it is November.  I've had the longest ear infection ever and now I think my hearing is jacked.  That's a good excuse not to write, right?
I can't believe I hadn't posted Halloween pics.  This year Beila wanted to be a mummy bride.  Score!  I made a mummy costume 2 years ago for Juniper.  Popi wanted to be Pippi (of course), another awesome deal because I made Bee a Pippi costume ages ago and we had a new wig all the way from Sweden for our little Pippi-freak.  But then there was Juniper.....oh dear.  She decided to be a Pheonix, the mythological on fire self reincarnating from the ashes bird who's tears have healing powers.  Yes, that one.  I don't think it turned out quite like any of us wanted it to:/  Then of course, Popi demanded Marc and I go as Pippi's parents, Captain Longstocking and the Angel, Pippi's dead mom:)  My kids!!

Long time no See.

I know.  I switched blogs, but, I like this one.  It was a good break.  I've been up to new things, the kids have grown, school started, and it's time for Halloween costumes.
I am sewing a lot of leather lately and this is one of my favorite things, the leather Wonder Woman set at my etsy shop:). This is also how big Popi is now, my big 3 year old!!

Dia De Los Muertos

on november 1st each year is dia de los muertos, day of the dead. we celebrate it at tulsa's living arts downtown. this year kristen had a huge altar set up for her deceased grandmother ruby. we go every year, and popi and were hoping to run into the girls who were with their stepmom. i missed them somehow, but kristen didn't. she snapped a picture of my lovely two for me:)

i got to eat one of my favorite treats, a mango, all dressed up in lime and chili!

my baby girls. well my big girls.

sanctuario de ruby.
kristen does amazing pieces of art. we had a great time of friends, family, food, and beer. had to leave early and miss the fire dancers this year, poo. maybe i'll see them at the garden diva party friday!

Matryoshka BooHaHa 2010

this year for halloween we(i) decided we would be matryoshka/babushka/russian nesting dolls. i thought it was hilarious. first i thought we'd carry around cardboard cutouts of a traditional shaped babushka, but then the girls would not have had the freedom of their hands. so then i thought we'd just dress like them. there are 4 of us in different heights, so it worked. i made the white dresses out of the shirt dress tutorial, and then pinned the anthropologie napkins i got earlier on front for our aprons. then of course i cut out red kerchiefs from red fabric and hot glued them on headbands to keep them on our heads! except for popi, pink cheeks and over sized eyelashes completed our look.

yesterday was boohaha on brookside, we went to the costume contest with the golden driller(henry), and met up with gnomies, olive and calder for the parade. we won one of the costume contests, but not the overall. still, bee had fun sporting the big blue ribbon the rest of the day.

Pumpkin Patch

each year we go to the same pumpkin patch to pick our pumpkins, pleasant valley farms. this year we stopped to eat minuteman pizza before we went to the farm. in doing so we got to the farm late and in the dark. but that didn't stop us from playing with the goats, and frolicking amongst the pumpkins, and of course taking our annual picture on the white bench.
