music That Moves You

i tried to think of just five albums that have shaped me, that move me, but there are six. these albums have been a part of me for most of my life. they are the kind of music that washes over you, gives you tingles up and down your arms. i can sit with my eyes closed and let the music take me away, they are magical to me. what kind of music takes you over?

THE CURE, DISINTEGRATION

THE SMITHS, RANK

ANDREAS VOLLENWEIDER, CAVERNA MAGICA

THE PIXIES, SURFER ROSA

NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL, IN THE AEROPLANE OVER THE SEA

PAUL SIMON, GRACELAND

Too Much Information...

we got a lot of information today.

beila got her finger pricked at dr. jelley's office this morning. her blood sugar at a fast was 164, her A1c 13.3%. not good. after establishing her blood sugar we (marc, parks, and i) got to talk to dr. jelley and he went over her symptoms with us and answered any questions we had, he also confirmed her as diabetic. type 1 diabetes, my little 5 year old is diabetic. big breath.

we then got to go to the kitchen where the nurse fixed bee waffles and sugar free syrup. before she got to eat we had to be taught insulin mathematics and dosages. the nurse gave bee her very first shot of insulin, something her itty bitty body has been missing for who-knows how long, i could imagine her insides giving a big sigh of relief for that shot. she took it so good. the nurse stuck the small short needle in the back of her skinny arm and counted to ten and let go. how does a mama keep from crying in front her babies? she ate those waffles like she'd never eaten before, and asked for another when she was done. because she wanted more food and we'd only dosed her for those two waffles we had to give her another shot of insulin before she had her third waffle.

after the nurse went over the equipment, math, and dosages with us we got to spend time with a dietitian. we were given a ton of information on carb counting(yuck) and food weighing and measuring.

this is a big job, a "family disease" is what they call it. we are all going have to work together like we never have. all this new information on keeping my daughter's life stable, it is scary and intimidating. it is too much information...

My Record Collection

cat stevens' mona bone jakon is one of my favorite albums ever.
it has many stupendous songs on it. cat stevens is a musical Greek god and i have had a super duper big crush on the 1970's cat stevens since forever, maybe that's why i like Greeks;)
i love so many songs off this lp, so i had to post 2. i wish they were both live performances, but i couldn't find trouble live. the live performance of lady d'arbanville is so awesome. cat stevens is so hot. (SHOUT OUT to my hottie hot hot Greek! I love you babe!) trouble was on the sountrack to harold and maude, my favorite movie of all time. the video is the clip with the song in the movie. spoiler alert: if you have not seen harold and maude, 1: shame on you, 2: go watch it, like now, and 3: don't watch the clip. the song trouble is not only one of the most gut wrenching songs ever but so beautiful and poignant. it triggers feelings deep inside of me, i want to shut the world out when i hear it, turn it up, sing really loudly and cry. i love that song. enjoy:)

Biz Markie is Playing at My House, My House...

it was a spectacular dance party at the crystal pistol last night. we were very lucky to have the biz playing at our club. we also got him to sign our yo gabba gabba bags!

singing and dancing to music is AWESOME!!

Yo Gabba Gabba Live!

we had a dancey-dance time last night at yo gabba gabba live! everyone was there in person. it was awesome. we danced, jumped, sung, had a $4 sno cone. we sat on the floor but on the sides would have been better. we were lucky that no one was behind us so we stood on our chairs the whole time. popi slept through half of the show and enjoyed watching the 2nd half with us. we were going to head over to the garden diva party afterward, but it was cold and we were hungry. a hot meal at bros. hooligan ended our wonderful night!

Yesterday Was My Birthday

it was also the first day of our music fest, Free Tulsa
. it was such a busy day, starting off at 7am! the Greek was going 60 miles an hour, with me trailing behind at 10mph. haha! there was tent set up, stage set up, vendor set up, heat-heat-heat, and last minute details of course. so many people have been helping with this undertaking, i even had my family out there helping out. i made it till 6.30. i thought i could do more, i was doing good, then it kinda hit me, the heat, the sun, the non-laying down...i guess my doctors know what they are saying. i wish i could have stayed, there were many bands i would have liked to see. but tonight's the night, i'm going, my mom, juni and bee and i. i will not be working, my body is just not up to it. i wish it was, i feel guilty watching everyone else shuffle around at high paces while i just sit there. i'll take some pictures to post later...
