Monday Morning Anthropologie

oh, my dear readers, what do we have here....
is that a semi full of our favorite merchandise i spy?
why i do believe the are unloading beautiful things in brown boxes into the newly finished store.

look! the box says urban outfitters and anthropologie!
don't worry, those men are not anthro employees. all the anthro-ites are wearing "hello, my name is..." tags.
i wonder if i put on a name tag they would let me in?
actually a young man invited me into the store before he realized i did not work there.
what tipped him off, my "good morning" hair?

i thought i might pictures of the stacked boxes in the windows, but i didn't.

soon, very soon.

One Month Old

popi turned one month old thursday, 9/9/10.
she is healthy. she is eating well, and sleeping well.
and when i say sleeping well i mean 10pm-7amish.
she smiles in her sleep a lot.
she smiled at me on purpose this last week.
she has my dimples.
she can pick her head up and move it to the other side.
she will not sleep in her crib, only in arms, bouncy seat, car seat, or ergo carrier.
except for that one time she did fall asleep in her room.
she will take milk from a bottle well.
she will not take a pacifier, she acts like you are choking her when you try.
she likes to suck her thumb when she finds it.
she licks the air constantly.
her eyes are still blue-gray.
she likes kanye west, poppa says she likes daft punk.
she likes the hair dryer sound.
i painted her toenails red yesterday.
i am a lucky mommi.
and juni and bee have stopped acting odd and throwing fits, for the meantime.
it is nice to take walks around the block as a five piece, we are a five piece family.

i'm sitting at the dining room table, eating my greek yogurt with honey, walnuts, flax seed, and granola trying to encourage myself to clean. it's not working. i blame it on the rain. the girls are at school so i should be making the most of my time by doing things that need to be done, like everything. instead i spent most of the morning breastfeeding a baby, swinging on the front porch swing, and reading "the bucolic plague" while listening to the rain. no motivation whatsoever. i finished my book though.

"the bucolic plague" by josh kilmer-purcell is a biography of sorts of 2 manhattanites that became weekend farmers in rural new york. the 2 men are partners that spend their time between a job at martha stewart and a job as an ad exec trying to get an old farm into working order. i loved the read, the way they really did become "gentleman farmers" and how they learned to live off the land. i want that life of the cows, the chickens, the goats, the huge vegetable garden, the canning, and the storing for winter. it is a ton of work, more work than i do now, but it sounds so fulfilling, right up my urban farm path.
let me share my favorite paragraph from the book.

"i needed to get back to the beekman.
i wasn't exactly sure what my best life was suppose to be, but i was pretty sure it had
something to do with cooking thanksgiving dinner with food from the garden, canning enough tomatoes to last through the winter, sweeping up zombie flies, picking apples, and baking cherry pies for a fourth of july picnic.
i needed to make some best life changes before it was too late.
oprah told me to."

it sounds like my best life. but really who knows what their "best life" is. that sounds like what mine would be, but really maybe it's just sitting here, eating my yogurt, waiting and putting off chores till i have to pick the girls up from school, and changing popi's diapers.

Monday Morning Anthropologie

these photos are from this past week. i was near there several times and something new was going on each time so i pictured it. i did not go by today because queenie's was closed due to labor day. so we went to ihop instead. i think that was my 2nd ever ihop visit. i was not too fond of it, my lesson learned.

the 1st two pictures you can sort of see the paint on the walls.

then the next time i went by there was the beautiful glass! i am so excited for this store to open:) they have big beautiful display windows. inside the back door you can see the small storage room they have, but no fear! there is a 4,000 sq ft storage space in the adjacent building's basement they have already built out. 4,000 sq ft of yummy anthropologie goodness!!! maybe i can have a job there when i retire:)

Project Runway Rant

i have to complain about the people on p.r. somewhere, sorry it's you.

i do not understand why everyone but casanova doesn't like Michael c. he does appear very humble and he seems to know what he is doing. i wasn't a fan of his 2 dresses he won for but then again i am not nina garcia, nor m.k. for heaven's sake they know more about fashion than any of the contestants or i for that matter, gotta trust the judges. gretchen wins twice and has an ego the size of mt. rushmore but people still like her! and for the whole ivy incident, i have to trust
michael c. that he did not say any of that, the camera's would have got it on tape and would have shown it. it would have been juicy. poor guy, he works hard and gets dogged on.

if you read grosgrain, you'll see i'm not the only one thinking this. i thought it was funny our thoughts paralleled like they did. all that means is that what i am saying is true. anywho...very excited for thursday night!

New Coop

we finally brought our new coop home! foo-fa, chocolate, saffron and blueberry now have a safe place to reside. suzie still lives in the garage:)
it is cool because it is a large tractor type of coop, so i can move it around the yard as needed for fresh grass grazing. also there are many places to roost in there, which they love.

it is super cool to go to one spot, open the door and there are eggs! no more easter egg hunts every day. i know that sounds fun, but really it is kinda annoying when you can't find eggs for breakfast and spend way too much time looking in the yard for one.

blueberry finally started laying, see how small her egg is compared to the others.
i love my chickens!!!!
