Ma Bee Hive

i know i took more pictures of my family building our hives, but they must "bee" on my dad's phone. my mom, dad, the Greek and i spent from 5pm-9:15pm building our hives. 2 supers, which are the boxes, and 20 frames. there was a room full of us ham-ham-hammering away at these. my fingers were numb at the end, but i got ours done. now i need to paint them, and get my bees!

these are my empty frames, i am getting ready to wire them, then i add beeswax sheets to the wire and use a hot thing to melt the wire into the wax.

poor little buggy and bot

we've got some sick little gals on our hands here. we went to eat dinner last night at aunt Nancy's. Beila went from perfectly fine to dramatically in pain in .5 seconds. ear infection, thank goodness we were at dr. charlie's! a call to the drug store and we had antibiotics and a happier Beila-bot. today a very quiet juniper had her temperature taken, 103. no wonder she wasn't talking much. some Tylenol and tea and we went home to rest from aunt jill's. from a doctors visit last week i know there is fluid behind her ears. i wonder if her ears got infected too. tomorrow I'll have my mom work on draining her ears. thank goodness popi is okay. I don't think I could deal with three sickies right now. send some good thoughts through the interwebs!!

MMMMGood

i swear...nothing beats a poached egg from an egg that came from your own chickens. soo yummy. i sprinkled some sea salt, fresh ground pepper and a little cayenne on it. oh so good. now for my oats with blackberries(picked last summer), xylitol, cinnamon and almond milk. tastes like blackberry cobbler. for realz, yo. have some fun pictures to post from last week's last beekeepers class where we hand built our hives, that meant 20 frames. oh my poor hands. well, since today is monday i am cleaning. did some dishes, cleaned the bathroom, put the popi down for a nap, isn't she cute.....

i can't even remember how many weeks she is, i'll have to backtrack.
but back to the chores, see this ONE pile of clothes i need to fold? ughhh. people are lucky they have clean clothes around here. i want to go work outside. i cleaned out the coop and am getting ready to turn the garden. i NEED to plant my taters. i saw some asparagus peeking through the soil yesterday. i am so excited to have my own asparagus this year. it was so hard to not eat the spears last year, but this year i am allowed by the garden gods! i would also like to make it to anthro, i didn't go to breaky this morn so i was not at utica square to do my peeking about. we'll see what happens. gotta roll with the punches, ya know? enjoy the week, i'll try to make it out today! auvoir mon petite beignets!

Leg Warmers How-To

i have always bought babylegs leg warmers for my kids and was looking for a more cost effective solution to my leg warmer addiction for the kids. so one sunday when i was admiring my friend jordan's daughter's leggings she told me how to make my own from socks. i think i was the only momma on the block that didn't know how to do this.

first you need knee socks.

at the ankle cut the foot off. there you have the leg warmer. now we have to make the bottom cuff.

take the foot and cut the middle out. this will make the cuff of the warmer.

fold them in half, right side out.

take your leg part turn it inside out and put your cuff inside of it, all raw edges together.

sew those raw edges together to make the leg warmer bottom cuff.

ta-da! enjoy.

27 Weeks

she's almost 7 months old. you see she is a perfect sitter upper now.
we went to one of my favorite department stores to visit my friend and on the way in i accidentally saw a dress that needed to be on my body, so i obliged. in the dressing room they had those mirrors you could move to so you could look at your angles in the mirror, popi loved sitting in the middle of them seeing multiples of herself.
she has had water, apricots, plums, tomato soup and sweet potatoes. her eyes have been holding on to this cloudy blue shade, it is odd and funny, strangers always comment on her gorgeous eyes. she still is very calm and content, except for this mommi clinginess she has been doing this past week. i have been letting her cry a little more when i put her down to sleep. she has been doing better, and this is why i am typing on my computer right now!! she waves hi, and actually says "hi", well it sounds like she does. her wave is so cute, i need to record it on my flip. she also reaches her arms out to me and when she sees my mom. i think she does the sign for milk too, it has to be it, i have been showing her since she was born and now she does it when she starts to nurse. juni fed her dinner the other night, then changed her diaper, put her pj's on and asked for a bottle to feed her. i told her she won't take one but juni insisted she would from her:) well, it feels so good to be sharing with everyone. have a good week!
